Tissue Rebalancing in Lipoedema
Recent research shows that in the case of oedema, a multidisciplinary approach is crucial, and it is within this multidisciplinary framework that tissue rebalancing techniques are integrated.
Patients with lipoedema present with a wide variety of signs and symptoms. In addition to the classic inflammation and oedema, fibrosis is also present, which represents an alteration of the normal composition of the tissue.
In addition to a state of chronic tissue inflammation and oedema, collagen deposits form, which completely alter the patient’s tissue.
Tissue rebalancing techniques can normalize the viscoelasticity of connective tissue, counteract oedema, and reabsorb collagen deposits, restoring the normal composition of the tissues.
These effects have also been observed in two studies (in 2017 and 2018) indicating that while tissue rebalancing techniques do not reduce limb volume, they drastically decrease tissue fibrosis. Similar results have been noted in our practice at the Clinica Linfologica Italiana in Padua over the years.
